L.A. Parent Explores How The Redline Venice is Confronting a Painful History

L.A. Parent’s Cassandra Lane took readers inside The Redline Venice Hotel where she dove into why we chose such a charged name and how we’ve reimagined it.

Lane highlighted how our team—Kamau Coleman, Michael Clinton, Sophea Samreth, and Destinee Sales—transformed a four-apartment building on the boardwalk into a space that’s rooted in history and community.

Each of our four suites honors a different story: from Nick Gabaldón, California’s first documented Black surfer, to Arthur Reese, the designer who helped build Venice. With curated art, books, and future QR-code storytelling, every room invites our guests to connect with the people who shaped this neighborhood.
