We Didn’t Set Out to Create a Hotel
We set out to solve a gap in hospitality that we couldn’t ignore.
As culturally curious travelers, we were constantly choosing between sterile hotels that lacked connection and short-term rentals that couldn’t serve groups like ours. There was no brand offering luxury, design, and meaningful cultural storytelling—especially one reflecting our communities.
At the same time, we watched neighborhoods with rich Black histories being redeveloped—without preserving the stories of who came before. We saw an urgent need to reinvest in and rewrite the history of places shaped by a policy that denied entire communities access to homeownership and opportunity.
What would it mean to build something that honored legacy, fostered belonging, and empowered communities?
That question sparked The Redline.

The Redline Venice Hotel
We launched in Venice Beach, converting a forgotten space into a “museum hotel”—a boutique property designed like a home, curated like a gallery, and rooted in untold community histories. We partnered with local artists and historians to bring those stories to life, turning every stay into a deeper experience.
The response was immediate. Guests stayed longer, paid more, and returned often. The Redline Venice exceeded revenue expectations while proving that there’s real demand for hospitality that’s both luxurious and culturally grounded.
Through a community-centered investment model, we’re expanding to cities like Inglewood and New Orleans—places with deep histories and untapped hospitality potential. The Redline isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a place to connect, belong, and invest.
